Holy Bible

This chapter deals with the burnt offering. This offering was an offering of consecration. If you wanted to consecrate your life completely to God, you would bring an ox to the priest and lay your hand upon it’s head and slay it. God wants you to give yourself completely to him.

All sacrifices or offerings to God had to be voluntary. God does not force you to love and serve Him.

The animal was slayed for your sins. By laying your hand on the animals head, it symbolized that your sin was transferred onto the animal.

The priest would then take the blood in and put it on the horns of the altar. The whole ox would be burned on the altar and be offered as a sweet smelling savor unto God.

You could use an ox, sheep or turtledoves for this offering.
