Murrietta Hot Springs

As the birds sing and the new-born lambs hop around the fields, now could be the perfect time to get out and about! Spring has finally sprung, so gather your loved ones and spend some quality time together – without breaking the bank.

Make the most of nature

Not all family-friendly activities have to cost the earth. In fact, many are completely free, so put your credit cards back in your wallet, step away from the cash machine and make the most of the great outdoors. Everything from bike rides to country walks can be great fun and there are even natural trails, beautiful forests and parks to explore!

Throw a retro games day

If you’ve got a bit of time to spare, why not throw a fun-filled games day? The kids are sure to love pass the parcel, musical statues and sleeping lions and you can even try hide and seek or musical chairs. Treasure hunts also go down well and painting competitions will help unleash your children’s competitive side. Keep a few basic treats nearby for prizes and you’ll be onto a winner.

Go away for the weekend

Going away might seem like an extravagance, but there are plenty of offers and deals available – you just have to find them. Price comparison websites will give you a good idea of what’s out there and travel agents will find you affordable quotes for your chosen destination. Look out for kids go free offers and, if you’re paying electronically, use low rate credit cards to keep your costs low.

Head to the Beach

Beaches are an inspiring place for all ages! Bustling with people from all over, it’s a beautiful place to explore and doesn’t have to be expensive either. Rail and bus tickets can be bought in advance and when you’re there you can picnic on the grass with a ocean view. The street entertainment is completely free too!

Try arts and crafts

If you’re stuck indoors due to April showers, arts and crafts are a great way to kill the time! They’re fun for all ages, so buy some basic supplies (including colouring crayons, paints, paper, glitter glue and an array of stickers) and get creative. Make birthday cards, draw pictures for the playroom or try your hand at something more adventurous like papier-mâché.

Entertaining the kids should be fun, not expensive, so give these five ideas a go!
