The Hebrew word for father-in-law could be the same as brother-in-law. Jethro could be another name for Moses father-in-law Reuel or it could be Moses’ wife’s brother.
Zipporah got her boys circumcised but accused Moses of being a bloody man. Moses sent Zipporah and their sons to Zipporah’s father Jethro. When Moses came back in the area, Jethro brought Zipporah and their sons back.
Jethro built an altar and sacrificed a burnt offering to God. He was a priest but not a child of Israel.
Sometimes we get so caught up in the non essentials that we run out of time to do the essentials. Priorities are important.
Moses’s wife and children stayed with him and his father in law returned home.
