Holy Bible

The children of Israel were guilty of tempting God. They were complaining about food and water which is a necessity in the wilderness. Moses was upset with the people but there was no indication that God was upset. The wrongly accused Him but He understood their needs.

They were celebrating how God preserved their fathers through the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. Paul tells us in the New Testament that the rock that the water came out of represents Christ. He is the rock from which the living waters flow.

Amalek was the grandson of Esau and is symbol of the flesh. There is a flesh side and spiritual side of our nature and they are always in conflict. Our flesh is the biggest barrier to experiencing the fullness of God’s promises.

God has told us that we will have a battle with our flesh always.
