SecurityPublic Emergencies are pretty serious and they happen quite often. Whether it’s an evacuation or an injured person, you need to be prepared.

I’ve personally been involved in a few public emergencies but the worst one was an evacuation of our town. I live in a small mountain community that only has three roads in and out of it. One of the roads was on fire. Living in a mountian community puts residence at a great risk when there are a lot of dead tree’s and drought conditions.

We were told that we needed to evacuate due to the spread of the fire. There were only two ways out at this point. With over 20,000 people in the community, we knew it would take a long time to get out. To my suprise, I was very calm. I didn’t want the kids to be scared. We made it out of the town that night using patience, prayer and considering our surroundings.

These types of situations can be alarming but it’s a reality. It’s so important not to panic. I recommend you download a copy of the Crowd Control Guide for tips on how to deal with different situations.

Do you have any tips you’d like to share?
