Baby Chicks

This morning we got a call from the Post Office that our baby chicks had arrived. I wasn’t expecting them until tomorrow so it threw off my day quite a bit. This is pretty much the reason I didn’t post much today.

A few weeks ago as we were learning more about modified foods and pesticides, we decided to get our own chickens. We love eggs and can’t afford the organic ones so we decided we would invest a little and make our own organic eggs. I love it because I know they will truly be organic.

We will not be eating our chickens (my husband wanted to name them according to the holidays). They will be our pets as well as providers of our organic eggs.

Have you ever checked how much organic chicken are to buy? The cheapest 5 lb organic chicken I found was $20! Isn’t that ridiculous? I’m truly amazed at how many companies rip off people that want to eat organic products. After all, it should cost them less to be organic.

I’m praying that our 5 baby chicks will grow strong and healthy. I will keep you updated on their progress and production!

very cute ! we decided the same thing a few months ago, to raise our own chickens for eggs... it is very rewarding, not only for the eggs, but you really get to know these little birds and their cute little personalities ! i am sure you have read up on this, but just a fyi.... make sure to keep checking for pasty, and try to hold them each a little every day, feeding them from your hand, it will make them so much more friendly and they begin to run to you when they see you, soooo cute !
