SwimWays has named Saturday, May 19,2012 the first annual “National Learn to Swim Day”! With May being National Water Safety Month,  SwimWays wanted to ensure that everyone understands the importance of teaching your child to swim.

Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury related death for children ages 1 to 14 years old according to the Red Cross.  Did you know that 1 out of 4 of those incidents happen most often in swimming pools at home?

My son is pictured above and this is his second year of using the SwimWays Swim Steps Product line to help him achieve his goal of swimming. He started the program in a Step 2 and is now moving into a Step 3. I can’t express how important it is to get your child involved in a swimming program. A few weeks ago I saved a little girl from drowning in the pool. It was the most horrifying experience. The parents were standing right by the edge of the pool and were in shock. I knew that someone had to move right away or this girl would lose he life. That’s how quick it happens.

I uploaded this video of my son swimming using the SwimWays Swim Step product line.  I see a lot of children wearing life jackets but they’re not as effective. You can’t go under water with a life vest which makes it hard for your child to get used to water in their face. They need to learn how to hold their head up. I’m really proud of my little guy and I’m so thankful for the SwimWays Swim Step program!

Visit SwimWays website to learn more about this very important day. They have tips, tools and ways to help celebrate National Learn to Swim day. I encourage you to check out the 4 Step product line to help your child swim. The prices are extremely reasonable and the product is great quality.
