God wants us to be perfect (Matthew 5:48), our perfection is our belief in Jesus Christ (John 6:28-29).
Christ intercedes with God on our behalf when we sin (Hebrews 7:25). He defends us when satan brings accusations against us (Revelation 12:10).
When we’re accused by satan, we tend to draw away from God because we feel unworthy. The Holy Spirit convicts us and draws us to God to make things right with Him.
If we’re in Christ, God’s love is being perfected in us as we follow Him. We need to confess our hatred for others to God so he can replace it with love.
The Word of God is our biggest defense against sin (Psalm 119:11). Jesus answered satan’s temptations with the Word of God (Matthew 4:1-10).
We need to be in the Word daily in order to have the strength to refrain from sin (John 15:3).
We’re not to love the following things in the world:
- The lust of the flesh
- The lust of the eyes (watching things with perverse desires).
- The pride of life (desire to rule over others)
The things of this world will pass away (2 Peter 3:11).
There are many false prophets and teachers deceiving people today (Matthew 24:11; 2 Peter 2:3,14).
