The priests conducted their duties as earthly ceremonies that were a symbolic representation of heaven.
Jesus was in the actual heavenly scene the temple represented. He is in the direct presence of God.
The purpose of the old covenant was to bring man into a relationship with God.
Sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:1-2; 1 John 1:6-10). God set up the animals as a sacrifice for sin but the blood only covered sin. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice (1 Peter 1:19), His death put an end to sin.
Jesus is our mediator, He brings us to God (Job 9:33; John 10:7-8; John 14:16). We are promised eternal redemption and eternal inheritance if we believe in the work God has done for us.
Jesus offered His own blood as a sacrifice. His sacrifice was sufficient to wipe out our sins forever.
Jesus is coming back a second time to establish the kingdom of God on earth.
