Fruits and Veggies

I’m sure everyone is familiar with Fruits and Veggies being a good source of nutrition.  Ever since I was a child, I remember my parents always telling me to eat my Fruits and Veggies. I completely agree that because the bible states it clearly in Genesis.

And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Genesis 1:29 NKJV

So far we know that every herb and every fruit that yields seed on the earth is good for us and that were are not to be glutton’s.  A good definition of a glutton is a person who eats or consumes immoderate amounts of food and drink. So basically it’s a person who eats or drinks more then their body needs.

First, I need to confess that I’m a glutton. Ever since I found out that God doesn’t want us to be glutton’s, I’ve been feeling conviction and have had a desire for less food. It doesn’t state in the Bible how much our body needs but he has given the knowledge for research to find that out for us.

I don’t personally see any harm in seeing for yourself what calorie intake your body should have.  After all, that is how you will figure out if your eating too much.  It’s not all about the calorie intake either, It’s about being healthy. I want to eat food that God put here to be at my optimal health.

I know it’s OK to eat meats but in the bible it wasn’t eaten often, it was a special occasion type of food. I don’t know how important it is for your body.  For right now, I’m just going off of Genesis.  Many great benefits come from eating the “Genesis” foods:

  • Helps keep you lean and fit
  • Helps boost the immune system
  • Helps promotes healthy skin and hair
  • Helps aids in recovery from illness
  • Provides more energy
  • Helps regulate cholesterol and other blood fats
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Helps purify the blood

One of the hardest things about eating right today is the fact that almost everything has been altered from its originally state.  Most of our foods today are filled with artificial products, man-made chemicals, preservatives and additives.

That means we need to pay attention to what were buying. Our bodies weren’t designed to process those types of food. Our bodies are full of toxins as a result. Here’s a list of great foods for you. It’s time to start incorporating them into our eating habits.

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Legumes
  •  Beans
  • Nuts
  • Grains & Cereals
  • Spices
  • Seeds
  • Sprouts
  • Herbs

Just for the record, I’m not a health conscious person and never have been. I feel the Lord is calling me to do this to help us all see it His way. This is very new to me and will be making a huge adjustment in my household. My plan is to share with you recipes that I find delicious but conform to God’s way. It will be hard but stay tuned so we can help each other 🙂
