As most of you may have experienced already, parenting doesn’t come with a script. We don’t realize how hard parenting is until we are faced with it. And that makes us love and appreciate our parents even more.
Parenting indeed does not come with a script. It’s not like a cookie-cutter or a recipe that all you have to do is follow the directions. You can’t take a class on it to become an expert. Being a father is more than bringing home the bacon. It’s much more than that.
My father is one of the hardest working men I have had the privilege of knowing. He’s always worked more than the average Dad to put food on the table and a roof over our heads and for most of my life had to work more than one job at a time. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t thank God for him and for his hardworking example in my life. He’s always spent as much time possible with his kids and always made sure our needs were met along with many of our wants. If anyone deserves a standing ovation for being an amazing Dad—it’s mine!
I want to leave one thought to take with you. Don’t forget to show your appreciation for the dad in your life—not only on Father’s Day—but every day.
